Pageant veteran Jade Cini was crowned Miss Universe Malta 2021 in a glittering finals held September 17 at The Hilton Malta Conference Centre in St. Julian’s.

The 26-year-old primary school teacher and model from Valletta bested 23 other finalists for the title. She will represent the nation at the 70th Miss Universe competition in Eilat, Israel in December. She suceeded 2020 titleholder Anthea Zammit.

Michela Galea (Miss World Malta 2017) placed first runner-up, while Maxine Formosa was second runner-up. Charlotte Stivala and Meltem Kirbas were third and fourth runners-up, respectively.

A familiar face in the pageant scene, Cini represented Malta twice in Miss Intercontinental, first in 2013 in Germany and in 2016 in Sri Lanka. She also competed in Miss Model of the World 2014, Top Model of the World 2015 (where she placed in the Top 17), and Best Model of the World 2015 (where she bagged the Best Model of the Mediterranean title). In 2016, she joined Miss World Malta and placed first runner-up to Anthea Zammit.
