Shariëngela Cijntje was crowned the new Miss Universe Curaçao 2021, besting seven other finalists during the finals held July 24 at the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort.
The 28-year-old legal officer, who holds a master’s degree in law, will head on to compete at the 70th Miss Universe competition in Eilat, Israel in December.
Alexandra Atalita placed first runner-up, while Giurvienka Seraus finished second runner-up.
“Grateful. Happy. Proud. The 3 words that come to mind when I think of last night,” Cijntje posted on Instagram a day after her coronation. “I will represent my country with pride and honor and I recognize that this is an immense responsibility but I will carry it with grace, determination, passion and resilience.”
