Cancer survivor Cynthia Linnet Lau was officially crowned Miss Earth Cuba 2021 in a special ceremony held June 27 at Cuba Ocho Little Havana in Miami, Florida.
The 25-year-old actress and model head on to represent her birth country at the 2021 Miss Earth pageant. She received the crown from Miss Earth Cuba 2007 Ariana Barouk.
Lau – who is of Chinese, Spanish and Cuban descent – was born in Holguin in Cuba, but migrated with her family to the USA when she was five. She recently graduated with a master’s degree in business administration from Nova Southeastern Unuversity.
When she was 13, Lau was diagnosed with a gastrointestinal tumor. As an advocate for cancer research, She has utilized her voice as an outlet to tell her story on behalf of those affected by cancer and life-threatening illnesses.
No stranger to pageantry, Lau previously represented Cuba in Miss Intercontinental 2018 in the Philippines. Prior to that, she competed at the Miss Queen of Continents 2016 contest in the Dominican Republic.
