Laura Olascuaga, representing Bolívar, was crowned Miss Universe Colombia 2020 during the inaugural edition of the pageant held November 16 at the Pabellón de Cristal in Barranquilla.

The 25-year-old social communications and journalism graduate bested 29 other candidates for the title and the right to represent the South American nation at the next Miss Universe competition.

Jenifer Pulgarín of Norte de Santander place first runner-up, while Laura Lamus of Santander finished second runner-up. The representatives of Amazonas, Cauca, and Quindio completed the rest of the Top 6.

Olascuaga is the first Miss Universe Colombia to be crowned under a new franchise. Señorita Colombia previously held the franchise.

A familiar face in the Colombian pageant scene, Olascuaga was virreina (vice-queen) in Señorita Colombia 2018 but resigned a few days after the finals for personal reasons.
