The 70th edition of the Miss World competition will take place in the “latter part of 2021,” according to a statement posted on the pageant’s official website on July 29.
Miss World Organisation chairman and CEO Julia Morley Chairman and CEO earlier made the announcement to all national licence holders.
“We have made the decision to delay the 70th Miss World final. Safety is paramount as we continue the fight against Covid-19. We look forward to welcoming the Miss World family to our very special celebrations next year.”
The host country and venue for the 70th edition will be confirmed “very soon,” the statement added.
With the postponement of the 70th Miss World final, Miss World 2019 Toni-Ann Singh from Jamaica is set to become the longest reigning Miss World titleholder in history.
The Covid-19 pandemic has been forcing pageant organizations to shift business plans. Japan-based Miss International in June announced the cancellation of its 2020 competition, while the Miss Earth competition is reportedly planning for a virtual pageant this November. Missosology.Org
