Maria Wavinya was crowned the new Miss World Kenya during the finals held October 5 at the Two Rivers Mall in Nairobi.
The 18-year-old mass communication student will head on to represent the east African nation at the 2019 Miss World finals in London in December.
“It still feels like a dream, for my name now ceases to be Wavinya Maria to Kenya,” she posted on Instagram.
Elsie Hemsi Stephens and Bernice Nunah placed first and second runners-up, respectively.
Also crowned in the same event is the new Mr World Kenya Frank Asoyo, who will compete in the next edition of the Mr World contest.
