Didia Mukwala was crowned Miss Universe Zambia 2019 during the finals held August 17 at the InterContinental Lusaka.

The 26-year-old model bested 15 other candidates for the title and the right to represent the southern African country at the 2019 Miss Universe competition.

“I am now carrying a crown on my head that comes with hard work, determination and above all a butterflying spirit (a heart to touch a soul). Lord, I am grateful,” Mukwala wrote in an Instagram post.

Mukwala is no neophyte in the pageant world. In 2015, she competed in Miss Heritage International in India where she placed in the Top 10. She also competed in Miss Zambia pageant that same year. In 2017, she joined Miss Universe Zambia and was awarded Miss Personality.
