Kadejah Bodden, a 24-year-old model from Bodden Town, emerged as the winner among the field of six finalists during the finals of Miss Universe Cayman Islands 2019. She will represent the Cayman Islands at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant.
“Being Caymanian means embracing Caymanian culture, history, art, food, but you know what, being Caymanian also means embracing the 100-plus nationalities that make up our island because without them we would not be the Cayman we know and love today,” Bodden said when asked what being Caymanian means to her.
Mariah Tibbetts was hailed as first runner-up while Mahalia Seymour finished 2nd runner-up. The finals was held August 17 at The Ritz-Carlton hotel.
Bodden is passionate about climate change and she has a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and a Master’s degree in Regenerative Medicine from Queen Mary University in London. She listed yoga and paddle boarding as her hobbies.
Cayman Islands, an overseas British Territory, is associated with powder-white beaches and offshore banking than with pageantry. It is one of the weakest nations at Miss Universe where it hasn’t placed in the semifinals since its first participation in 1980. Last year, it slid to 111th place – down from 108th in 2017 – at the Big5 Ranking. Missosology.Org; Photos from Cayman Compass
