The Miss England 2018 contest concluded on September 4, with Alisha Cowie of Newcastle winning the top plum.
The 18-year-old student bested 49 other candidates for the crown and the right to represent England at the 2018 Miss World finals in Sanya, China in December.
Cowie was commended for raising £20,000 for Smiles Across Nepal to teach oral hygiene and assist dentists in surgery.
Jen Atkins and Fatima Gashi placed first and second runners-up, respectively. Megan Fenwick and Chiara King completed the Top 5.
This year’s contest gained national attention after Huddersfield’s Sara Iftekhar, a 20-year-old Muslim law student, became the first Miss England candidate to wear a hijab in the competition. Missosology.Org
