Animal rights advocate Taylah Cannon is the new Miss World Australia. She was crowned in Palazzo Versace in state of Queensland. The 23 year old veterinary nursing graduate was emotional when she received the crown.
“It doesn’t feel real. I was shaking and crying. I was overwhelmed,” she said. Taylah vowed to bring the Miss World crown to Australia. The last time Australia won the title was in 1972. Taylah hopes that she can use her title to raise awareness on animal cruelty. She has fostered numerous animals. Taylah has an artistic side and she teaches makeup to express her artistry.
This year’s Miss World Australia pageant was a lavish affair in an upscale seaside hotel-cum-resort. Thousands of dollars were raised for charity during the run up to the finals night. Other big winners were Lavinia White who was hailed as first runner-up while La’Ace de Vries was second runner-up.
Taylah will soon fly to China to compete for the Miss World 2018 title. India’s Manushi Chhillar is the current winner. Last year, Australia’s very own Esma Voloder failed to make it to the semis.
