Haiti’s representatives to two of the Big5 major beauty pageants were crowned in a glittering finale held July 5 at Marriott Hotel in Port-au-Prince.
Samantha Colas won the Miss Universe Haiti 2018 title. The 25-year-old social communication student is set to compete in the next edition of the Miss Universe competition.
On the other hand, the Miss International Haiti 2018 crown went to Merlie Fleurizard. She will represent her country at the 2018 Miss International beauty pageant in November in Japan.
Cristina Cadet Prosper placed first runner-up.
Haiti came so close to winning the Miss Universe crown in 2016, when Raquel Pélissier finished first runner-up to Iris Mittenaere. Meanwhile, since making it to the Top 15 in 2012, Haiti has struggled to place in the Miss International semis. Missosology.Org
