Hildur Maria Leifsdottir is the new Miss Universe Iceland after being hailed as the winner in a pageant held in Gamla Bio, Reykjavik. Hildur Maria will represent Iceland at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant in Manila, Philippines with the finals set on January 30, 2017.
The participation of Hildur Maria Leifsdottir at Miss Universe will mark the return of Iceland at the pageant. The country last competed in 2009 where its candidate was called as one of the semifinalists.
Hildur Maria Leifsdottir works with her country’s flag carrier Icelandair as a cabin crew. She is 23 years of age and stands at 5’10” tall. No Icelandic beauty has ever won the Miss Universe crown to date.
