Itzel Paola Astudillo of Chiapas was crowned Miss Earth Mexico 2016 at the conclusion of the pageant held Saturday, August 27 at the Querétaro Centro de Congresos y Convenciones.
Astudillo bested 30 other candidates for the right to represent Mexico at the 2016 Miss Earth finals to be held in October.
Her elemental court included Miss Air Yolanda Vega (Hidalgo), Miss Water Veronica Salas – Vallejo (Estado de Mexico) and Miss Fire Andrea Torres (Sonora).
Mexico is yet to win the Miss Earth crown, but won its first elemental title in 2008 when Abigail Elizalde finished Miss Water. The country enjoyed a four-year placement streak in 2011-2014. Missosology.Org
