In a surprise decision today, the Miss Universe Puerto Rico (MUPR) organization announced that Kristhielee Caride will be stripped of her title and will no longer be participating at the Miss Universe contest.
The decision was made after an incident last March 14 when Kristhielee brushed off Patricia Vargas of El Nuevo Diario during an event organization by MUPR. Kristhielee reportedly refused to be interviewed and rudely told Patricia that she “don’t like the cameras”.
In an effort to reach out to the El Nuevo Diario reporter, a letter of apology was written by Kristhielee and was duly sanctioned by MUPR. In the letter, the beauty queen claimed that like any other people, she also gets a “bad day” and that she sincerely regrets her action.
The move however by MUPR to dethrone the queen was prompted by the consistent bad attitude of Kristhielee according to insider reports. Desiree Lowry, the national director of MUPR, will issue an official statement later this afternoon. Brenda Azaria Jiménez, the first runner-up, will take over the title.
