To say that the confusion at Miss Universe 2015 started and ended on that same fateful day – December 20 – is basically a failure to see the larger picture. The confusion at Miss Universe started in 2014. The pageant, for the first time in history, skipped a year and people were left wondering whether what happened in Doral last January was really a Miss Universe 2015 or the Miss Universe 2014.
The conundrum thus continued. If it was Miss Universe 2014, will another pageant be held in 2015? Or was it Miss Universe 2015 and that the next edition will be in 2016? There was a great need to answer these questions because it had a huge impact on national contests worldwide. It could also greatly affect the trainings and preparations of each individual candidate.
And then there’s Donald Trump and the transfer of ownership. Also that false news that Ines Ligron is taking over. So, if one thinks that the confusion started when Ariadna Gutiérrez being wrongly crowned as Miss Universe and Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach denied of her moment, boy we are so so wrong.
Pia Wurtzbach, the clear frontrunner during the finals night, is truly an epitome of steely determination and unshakable courage. Despite of all the confusion during the finals night, Pia emerged calm and resplendent. Despite of all the uncertainties whether Miss Universe will actually be held or not, Pia continued her trainings and showed her critics that she can improve her body tone.
The victory of Pia is a strong example to everyone that if you have laser sharp focus no amount of uncertainties, confusion and even accusation of fraud and robbery can hinder your way towards your ultimate goal. Truly, a victory won amidst all the perplexities is the most beautiful and rarest among all victories.
