Cook Islands is making a comeback at the Miss World contest! The tiny, self-governing territory of New Zealand crowned the 21 year old Natalia Short as the new Miss Cook Islands. She is expected to compete at the Miss World 2015 contest in Sanya, China with the finals night on December 19.
Cook Islands last competed at Miss World in 1990. The territory consists of 15 tropical islands and Avarunga – where the Miss Cook Islands 2015 pageant was held in October 17 – in the island of Rarotonga is the capital city.
Natalia Short will carry the banner of a relatively weak territory at Miss World. According to the Big4 Ranking, Cook Islands is currently ranked at number 149. The territory has participated in all but one – Miss International – of the Big4 Pageants. To date, no Cook Islander beauty has ever managed to land in the semis of Miss World.
