Arna Yr Jónsdóttir won the title of Ungfru Island 2015 as well as the Miss World Iceland 2015 crown and will be represent Iceland in Miss World 2015 which will be held in Sanya, China on December.
Arna is twenty years of age from Kópavogur. “After five years I see myself as a woman filled with happiness and experience. I see myself traveling the world, taking part in charity work abroad,” she said during a post-coronation interview. Arna is taking up a nursing course in a university.
This year, 24 Icelandic beauties participated. Winning the Miss People’s Choice award is Helena Reynisdóttir. Miss Sports award was given to Thelma Fanney Magnúsdóttir, while Iris Rose Hauksdóttir garnered the Top Model award. Maleic Agla Kristjánsdóttir meanwhile was adjudged as the best in talent.
The girls have been preparing all summer and were trained for better stage presence and personality. As announced in the early summer, preparations of contestants will take a new form this year, with increased focus on strengthening the personality of the girls. The Jónsdóttir family and Björn Leifsson, bought the contest last year and vowed to dramatically improve the national contest.
