The Miss Algerie 2014 contest concluded with the crowning of Fatma-Zohra Sabrine Chouib, a 20 year old computer engineer from Bab El Oued. She was selected from a field of 20 contestants. The pageant was attended by the famous lady-in-hat, Miss France ex-National Director Genevieve de Fontenay who took the headlines after she misspoke onstage calling Algeria in its colonial name of French Algeria.
It is not clear which pageant Fatma-Zohra will compete with some news outlets suggesting she will compete at Miss World 2015. The organizers however was quoted saying that the winner will compete in this year’s Miss World which is to be held in London. If it will materialize, it will mark the return of Algeria at the pageant which last competed in 2002.
