Christine Barbier is Miss World Seychelles 2016


Miss World Seychelles is Christine Barbier. She is a 24 year-old accounts assistant from Cascade. She was also voted Miss Personality, Miss Sport and Miss Talent. Meanwhile, Lianne Barbe is the 1st princess and Samiya Albert is the 2nd princess. She will represent Seychelles at the Miss World 2016 pageant.

Christine, an avid swimmer, had focused on her project entitled Children’s Home; Comfort, Care & Continuity. “I have chosen to dedicate my project to the young adults that has been living in the children home, since they have been a baby, or toddler, and at the age of 17 years only,” she said during the pre-finals interview.

Seychelles is yet to win the Miss World crown and is currently ranked as 127th at the Big4 Ranking (soon to be Big5 Ranking). The country however has two semifinalists at Miss World – Jane Edna Straevens Victoria in 1972 and June Gouthier in 1973 – during the years when the country was still a part of the United Kingdom. Seychelles was granted independence in 1976.
