Prior flying to Israel to compete for the 70th Miss Universe pageant, Beatrice Luigi Gomez was given a formal send-off ceremony held at Hilton Manila which was well attended by the press and pageant bloggers. She is set to fly on November 27th. The finals is set on December 12th in the Red Sea resort city of Eilat with over 77 candidates competing for the title.
Beatrice Luigi is the second candidate to be fielded at Miss Universe under the new franchise. She will vie for the Philippines’ fifth Miss Universe title. Her country won the title in 1969, 1973, 2015 and 2018. She is also tasked to preserve the 12-year semis streak of her country which started in 2010.
Miss Universe 2021 will see the comeback of Steve Harvey as the host and Fox as the official broadcaster. Several nations will skip the pageant due to pandemic restrictions while some, like Morocco will make a comeback after decades of absence. United Arab Emirates will also participate for the first time after the country established diplomatic relationship with Israel last year.
