Miss Preston Elizabeth Grant was crowned Miss England 2016 during the finals held July 21 at the Southport Theatre & Convention Centre.

ELIZABETH GRANT, AGE 20, who was Miss PRESTON has been crowned the 2016 winner of the Miss England contest in Southport, Merseyside. She claimed the title after battling it out against on stage 49 other women through rounds of the beauty pageant, held in the Southport Theatre and Convention Centre yesterday and today (THURS). Along with her new title ELIZABETH GRANT has also won 25,000 and will now go on to compete at Miss World. SEE MERCURY COPY

The 20-year-old psychology student, from Ribbleton, beat out 49 other hopefuls for the right to represent England at the Miss World competition to be held in December. She takes the crown from Miss England 2015 Natasha Hennings.

Accepting her crown, she said: “I don’t know what to say, I’m surprised I can even make sense right now.
