The states of Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama are tucked in the Southern portion of the country and is part of the so-called middle America and the Bible belt. So one can get a picture that we are talking about a conservative, religious and tornado-prone area of the United States but above all else, this is arguably the region where the most beautiful Americans reside. The region had produced four Miss USAs and one of them eventually became Miss Universe. The odd one in this region is Mississippi - a state that is not so successful and may again be unsuccessful this year (we'll discuss it more in detail below).

This year, Kentucky may be off to a good start. Allie Leggett may remind us all of Carrie Stroup. Okay, anyone who does not know Carrie Stroup is not a real missosologist. Allie looks like a Hollywood teen star and she has that capability to define her chances at Miss USA 2013. This means she has all what it takes and it is largely up to her what aura she wants to project. At 19 years old, she could style herself as fresh rather than being all too glammed up. Her height which is 5'6" could be a no-no years ago but we all know the story such that height could no longer be factor. Allie can hope that it still holds true this year otherwise she will be drowned by much taller delegates.
PLUS: She looks like a Hollywood teen star and may work on her favor if she comes out as fresh and genuine
MINUS: Sash factor. Kentucky may boast one Miss USA crown with the famous Tara Cooner but after that, the trend is pretty much downhill for the state.
VERDICT: Change her style and focus more on her teenage aura. 50-50 chance on the Top 16
OVERALL RATING: 8.73

Tennessee is one heck of a successful state at Miss USA. With two great winners - Lynette Cole and Rachel Smith, the state can be called as a beauty superpower. It has a straight streak at the pageant since 2006 and that is a very good thing for Miss Tennessee USA 2013 Brenna Mader. Even more good news for her is that she looks absolutely beautiful with a hint of Scandinavian allure. She also has one of the sexiest bodies that we've seen among the Miss USA 2013 contestants and her 5'9" height is a good weapon as well. She is definitely a contestant to watch.
PLUS: Great beauty and great body from a very strong state.
MINUS: Can she survive in an era where sweet teenage aura is the toast of the town?
VERDICT: Seeing her in the Top 16 is not that difficult.
OVERALL RATING: 9.10

Mississippi, as mentioned is the odd one in the group. It is one of the least successful states in the Miss USA pageant. Its highest placement was in 2008 when Leah Laviano finished as first runner-up. This year, Bangladesh-born Paromita Mitra will represent the state and there are a lot of indications that Mississippi will be clapper this year. First, it is important to point out that Paromita is a beautiful candidate. Face-wise she is one of the best. But it stops right there for in other aspects she is a bushleaguer. Paromita stands at 5'4" which severely affects her stage presence. Further complicating her chances is the fact that she once competed at the Miss Teen USA pageant but she was unplaced.
PLUS: Top-notch facial beauty
MINUS: That height deficit. Poor stage presence and bad track record at the pageantry world.
VERDICT: Mississippi will clap this year.
OVERALL RATING: 8.00

Okay, with all that frenzy about Katherine Webb, which allowed Missosology.org to get as much as twice the visitors received during the Miss Universe peak season, a huge limelight is casts on Alabama. Sylvia Hitchcock is the lone Alabaman Miss USA and she happens to be the lone Alabaman Miss Universe! The state is a successful one at the pageant and this gives the Alabama sash an extra edge. Mary Margaret McCord will carry the Alabaman banner this year at the Miss USA pageant and she has a good chance. She's got a wonderful beauty with eyes that can seduce anyone and lips that are quite simply irresistible. Overall impression is she looks like a royalty!
PLUS: Sash, innate beauty...the winds are on Mary Margaret's favor!
MINUS: Her styling at the state pageant makes her inconsistent. The problem is if she makes mistakes like that at Miss USA, she could be in peril. Translation: bunned or straight hair not messy or wavy styles. You look like a royal, style like one!
VERDICT: She's in the Top 16 or maybe a crown!
OVERALL RATING: 9.33
