This article is part of a series which will feature the 2013 contestants of the Miss USA pageant. The views contained herein are from the contributors of Missosology and does not reflect the official thought or stand of Missosology in any way or form.

The region of West South Central states includes the vast state of Texas which is the most successful state at the Miss USA pageant. There are 9 Texans who already won the crown including one Miss Universe - Chelsea Smith. The state pageant is one of the most sought after with hundreds of girls from local contests line up to compete for the crown and the right to represent Texas at the nationals.

Up north of Texas is Oklahoma which is yet to win the Miss USA crown but boasts two first runners-up including the ever favorite of pageantry watchers, Morgan Woolard. This state is also one of the most called to the semifinals with 23 Oklahoman beauties made it to the cut in the 61 years of Miss USA history. In contrast, the neighboring state of Arkansas is less lucky. Arkansas was called to the semis almost half of the time that Oklahoma was called but the former was more successful because in 1982, Terri Utley won the crown for The Natural State. Another successful state in the region is Louisiana. The state can be proud of its three Miss USA titles - Eurlyne Howell (1958), Sharon Brown (1961), Ali Landry (1996). Last year they made it to the Top 16.

The candidates in this region can be generally categorized as a strong group. Most of the Southern girls, broadly speaking, perform well at the national pageants. Miss Arkansas USA Hannah Billingsley can be described as a blonde-next-door girl. She's got an easy going attitude with bright smile and eyes that can light even a dimly lit room. Her personality appears to be bubbly and there is a great chance that her attitude and looks would be a hit at the national contest. At 5'7", she might be overwhelmed by much taller delegates, but hey, this is the Olivia Culpo era, so this shouldn't be an issue in the first place. The 21 year old beauty has a talent for singing and this complements well her teeny aura. Things to fix for her is her body. She needs to shape up just a little bit more.

PLUS : Sweet looks and she's comfortable with herself

MINUS : Her body needs toning

THE VERDICT : Good chance to be in the semis

OVERALL RATING : 8.92

Miss Louisiana USA Kristen Girault, well, two things - love her name and love her body. Girault sounds and feels like Cajun, which is of course an interesting and very historical and very unique heritage of Louisiana. Kristen's body is just amazing. It is shapely, well proportioned and goes well with her facial beauty. And when it comes to facial beauty [grappling for words, here] versatile could be the right term. This girl can be styled to look sweet or look glamorous in a snap. Kristen is 21 years old and stands 5'7"

PLUS : She will fit right in at any styles be it glamorous or sexy or whatever it may be

MINUS : Definitely want to see more of her as her beauty does not really stand out from Miss USA 2013 crowd

THE VERDICT : We will see Louisiana at the Top 16

OVERALL RATING : 9.22

Miss Oklahoma USA Makenzie Muse is a budding Morgan Woolard. It is likely though that Makenzie might surpass Morgan and eventually win that elusive crown for Oklahoma. She has the aura of glamor and of elegance. She will definitely win a lot of hearts. This 22 year old beauty stands 5'9" and she possesses one of the most beautiful faces in the Miss USA 2013 crowd.

PLUS : An absolutely gorgeous candidate. Definitely a frontrunner

MINUS : She might not be in the so-called sweet category

THE VERDICT : Sure Top 26 placement

OVERALL RATING : 9.89

The alluring beauty of Miss Texas USA Alexandria Nugent reminds us all that Texas is a superpower state when it comes to pageantry. Mathematically speaking, one has a greater chance to be correct if one would predict Texas will be in the Miss USA semis than predicting that the state will be a clapper. The facial beauty of Alexandria is undeniable but with all honesty, her body structure needs to be softened. She is far from being consistent too! In some of her stylings she looks soft and sweet but in some of her photos her beauty looks too strong. It is crucial that Alexandria should go with the current trend of looking sweet with a soft aura onstage.

PLUS : Her Texas sash carries a lot of weight in the pageant

MINUS : Her aura is too strong. There is a need to soften her body structure as well as her facial beauty. With the right stylings, this could be achieved rather easily

THE VERDICT : Unless some changes will be made to soften her beauty, we won't be seeing Texas at the semis

OVERALL RATING : 8.80
