Its Official now! After weeks of speculations and silent murmuring, Urvashi Rautela has been dethroned (or rather correctly relinquished the crown). She passed over her sash to Shipa Singh who was the 1st Runner up and I Am She Miss Globe International 2012. Shilpa will now compete and represent India at the Miss Universe 2012 Pageant to be staged in Las Vegas on the 19th of December
Here's the official announcement from the I Am She Organization:
We would like to announce Urvashi Rautela's relinquishment of her title 'I Am She Miss Universe India 2012' to Shilpa Singh who was crowned as 'I Am She Miss Globe International 2012'.
Shilpa will represent India at the Miss Universe Pageant to be held at Las Vegas in December 2012. The afore stated reliquishment is due to Urvashi's contradicting contracts as the winner and the title holder of the pageant, ' The 'Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International, 2011', a fact which she unfortunately overlooked during her participation in I Am She, 2012.
Urvashi further acknowledges and agrees that she did not confirm to the minimum age criterion as is requred under the I Am She Pageant as well as the Miss Universe Pageant 2012.

Uravashi had to apparently forfeit because Miss Universe Organization had rejected her candidature citing she was under age for the competition. Miss Universe Organization stipulates that a participant be a minimum of 18 years old on the 1st of Feb of the year of contest. She turned 18 on 25th Feb 2012 for which she became ineligible to compete in MU 2012. Missosology had noticed this slipup two weeks back

ARE THERE AGE REQUIREMENTS?
Yes. Miss Universe and Miss USA contestants must be at least 18 years of age and under 27 years of age by February 1st in the year they hope to compete in the Miss Universe or Miss USA competition. Miss Teen USA candidates must be at least 14 and under 19 years of age by February 1st in the year they hope to compete in the Miss Teen USA competition.

Let me take this opportunity to thank you for all your support. I am amazed at how seriously you take your pageants. It motivates us, Pageant contestants a lot! I myself am a big fan of the site and forum and have learned a lot. Any comment good or bad makes me realize where I need to work. You all are wonderful people and without you our pageants will cease to exist.
My Special thanks to Pawee, Dipak and Rajat for always believing in me. For what has happened has happened. It take it as a signal from God that 2012 was not the year for me. It has made me stronger. It is your love and motivation that propels me. I assure you that I will try my level best to come back stronger and better in the 2013 season. If it's my destiny to take part in Miss Universe 2013, I will. If not I would feel God has better plans for me.
For me the journey has just started, I am lucky to have met wonderful people like you on way and would expect to hold your hand as a little child as you all guide me properly.

- First Runner Up - Arlette Evita Grao
- Second Runner Up- Dipna Patel
This comes as a heart break for thousands of Indian Fans and supporters and Urvashi Rautela's crowning was revivial of India's hope for a Miss Universe win. Whether this is a case of inadvertence, misappropriation or simply failing luck, India now has a new delegate for Miss Universe and given the tenacity of the Indian fans, they need to pick themselves up and Cheer on the new Miss India Universe.
But this episode does bring out some pertinent questions, not just vis-a-vis Urvashi Rautela -
Is it unfair that Miss Universe Org is stipulating the date to be 1st of FEB when the Pageant is taking place so late in December?
Should a contestant's date of birth be set as marked on the Day the pageant begins?
Do you think this fiasco could have been averted by a more vigilant I Am She or a forthright Urvashi?
Given the contest is mere a month and half away how does it affect Shilpa Singh's preparedness for the contest?
