Binibining Pilipinas 2000__
Filipinos' expectations ran high during the Miss
Universe 2000 spell when a complete-packaged beauty named Nina
Ricci won the much-coveted Bb. Pilipinas Universe title and
got the chance to represent the Philippines in the Miss
Universe Pageant held in Nicosia, Cyprus.
What about
Nina? Her sort could bring the likes of Gloria Diaz or Margie
Moran to intimidation when it comes to wit, substance and
eloquence. Too good to be true? Well, further than that, her
approach to life is in keeping with her bohemian personality.
A strong interest in the arts, to make-up toil and modeling,
means that Nina finds pleasure in any figure of media, and can
handle just about anything.
Nina herself credits her
beauty to the fact that she's an authentic Filipino.
Certainly, Nina Ricci's appeal is difficult to pin down, but
there is a hint of exotic flavor to her mix of Morena and
Caucasian looks. Nina's height, well-chiseled cheekbones,
silky & lengthy hair, intense, hazel eyes, coupled with
her usual good humor and aptitude, add an additional breadth
to her beauty. Moreover, she’s known for her 23-inch killer
waistline.
• Bb. Pilipinas Invasion •
Since Day 1 of the Bb. Pilipinas 2000
pageant, University of the Philippines graduate Nina Ricci
Alagao was already tagged as a major contender for the crown.
She has a stature of a professional model and is very equipped
with remarkable credentials. Prior to her stint in Binibini,
she became a runner-up in a modeling competition. Nina, along
with Gemma Louise Heaton, Nicole Hofer and Floralice Almoro,
was considered a top favorite in Bb. Pilipinas. The final
night of Binibining Pilipinas 2000 came and Nina was geared up
to win the top plum. Indeed, she stood out clearly throughout
the night. She walked her way to the title with so much
glamour and élan. Her flames was fiery as she bagged five
special awards: Best in Swimsuit, Miss PAL Sunniest
Personality, Miss Vaseline Healthy Glowing Skin, Binibining
AVON, and Miss Talent. Meanwhile, her wit was made known
during the semifinal's casual interview. She delivered an
answer that harks back to Miss Universe 1999 Mpule
Kweglagobe’s "celebration of femininity." Nina’s reaction to
the question given to her by handsome celebrity judge Richard
Gomez was that -it won’t be a big deal if she finds out that
her boyfriend is gay since it's a celebration of his
"femininity" (effeminacy, that is).
Nina gave such a profound answer then
again to the final question, "How will you pursue your
dreams and aspirations in a fast changing world of the new
millenium?" Not even the brainy and charismatic Katherine
Annwen can stop Nina from winning
Nina put the dot
after articulating, "Well, that won't be difficult for
someone who is receptive to new ideas. I guess you have to be
on guard all the time and can't be caught unaware of things to
come. You always have to be on the lookout for what is new
because just when you thought technology is at its peak,
there's more to come!" She won the crown in lieu of that
answer. Other victors of the night were Katherine De Guzman
(Bb. Pilipinas-World), Joanna Maria M. Peñaloza (Bb.
Pilipinas-International), Maria Christina Tan (1st runner-up)
and Nicole Hofer (2nd runner-up).
