Ana Yancy Clavel represents a nation that can only boast three semifinalists and a first runner-up at Miss Universe. Like many Central American nations, El Salvador is not that strong at the pageant but nevertheless the pageant culture is strong and they do adore their beauty queens. Standing tall and proud to carry her nation’s flag, Ana talked with Missosology about her self, her country and her chances at the pageant.

1. Who do you think is the sexiest man alive?

I love a man that is funny and makes me laugh.  I believe that’s what represents sexiness in a man.  I think I’d choose Patrick Dempsey; He´s the kind of man you see once, and fall in love immediately!

2. If there were no rules in your life for one day and you could be outrageous, what would you do?

I would go to the supermarket and grab all chocolates I could! I would sit right there and eat them all.

3. What is the most difficult thing you did to prepare for the Miss Universe pageant? Why did you do that?

By far getting use to wear high heels. I was so used to wearing tennis shoes and comfortable clothes that it became really hard to get used to them. Funny thing is that now I can even dance with them on.

4. What has been the biggest disappointment in your life? Why?

When I was a little girl my best friend was my cousin. Unfortunately for all of us she had a stroke and lost her hearing capacities. Since then communicating became really hard.  We love each other and gladly she learned sign language to communicate, and I learned learn sign language too.

5. If you were given 1 million dollars how would you spend it in just one day?

I am person that is always thinking of others before i think of myself. Part of the money I would donate to a Children Cancer treatment Center. Also I believe that education is the key to success so I would donate some money to a Children Educational Center in El Salvador. Don’t forget I am a woman and as a woman I like to shop. If I still have enough money left I would buy myself a whole clothing store. What can I say I love clothes!

6. What does loving a boyfriend mean to you?

A loving boyfriend means to me as someone that will respect me, will be loyal, who cares for me, and that communicates with me on a daily basis. Also someone that will remember to tell me that he loves me everyday.

7. Any beauty secrets that you would like to share the readers of Missosology?

If you Smile everyday you will always feel beautiful. Attitude towards your life makes your life beautiful.

8. Tell us about the most beautiful place in your country?

I love “Playa El Tunco.” It’s  a beautiful scenery with  dark sand, warm water, warm sea tropical breeze,  and an spectacular view of the surfers over the waves. It’s a paradise I invite you to come and visit “Playa El tunco”

9. Tell us about your mantra or secret to success.

Trusting God is always my key to success. No matter what happens I know he is always by my side.

10. When was the last time you cried? Why?

Funny thing is that the last time I cry it was of joy. When I won the Nuestra Belleza Contest I was 19 and the very next day I turned 20. That morning I woke up being Nuestra Belleza El Salvador and as the owner of a brand new car. I cried of joy. I was so emotional, and excited.

11. What do you like to do for fun with your friends?

I like to play pool and I like to play video games with my friends. Also when I was younger I used to play soccer and basketball with my friends and family. Those were great days, and it was FUN!

12. Miss Universe Organization now allows transgender s to compete in their pageant system, what’s your take on this?

I respect every person and respect their rights. If Miss Universe Organization allows them to compete I think their rights should be respected. I´m ok with it.

13. What would you say to someone who thinks you’re not qualified or pretty enough to represent your country in Miss Universe?

I would say that I respect their opinion. Also I will remind them that as all the other contestants I went through the process that chose me to Represent El Salvador I am a Salvadorian girl who represents an integral woman that is beautiful inside and outside. Also I am strong, hard worker. I would ask them to give me the chance to show the world how beautiful Salvadorian women can be.

14. What qualities do you feel you have that would make you a great Miss Universe?

I think I am responsible, determined and strongly willing to help others. As Miss Universe I could reach out for help from others to fulfill the thing I always wanted to do and that is to help others in need.
