Alina Buchschacher is an interesting beauty. She is a multiracial face in what was perceived as milk white Switzerland. She is of course not the first. There is a growing number of multi-racial beauty queens from her country including Miss Universe Switzerland 2009 Whitney Toyloy, Miss Universe Switzerland 2007 Amanda Amman and Miss Universe Switzerland 2004 Bianca Sissing. Critics have noted that Switzerland performs best at Miss Universe when its candidate is multiracial obviously oblivious to the fact that the best placement of the country was by a white woman from a French speaking region.
Anyway, the racial issue had been widely discussed and is a pan-European topic but we are here to talk about Alina. I say I am intrigued by her beauty and I am putting her in my dark horse category. That means the avenue for her Top 15 finish is not totally closed and that would greatly depend how she will package her beauty. One more thing, Alina is half Trini (yes, her mother is from Trinidad and Tobago) and Trinis are well known in the pageantry world. Well used to be. The thing is, I would like to know if the mixed Swiss and Trini beauty can really fare well at Miss Universe.
