After that scandal at Miss Universe NZ contest, Talia Bennett emerged as the rightful contestant to represent New Zealand at Miss Universe. While the scandal exposed the darker side of pageantry, it actually brought what the pageant observers were asking for – Talia Bennett representing NZ at the international pageant. Talia had been tagged as a strong contestant as early as 2011 national qualifiers yet fate works in mysterious ways and had the original winner this year made it, Talia would never make it to the Miss Universe pageant. What makes Talia the toast of the town? First she has a beauty to be proud of – a mix of Italian with Roman charm and of Maori which brings in the exotic Polynesian touch. Talia has a great body too. Not really on the vavavoom category but close enough. But all of these will be dampened by one single fact – no New Zealander made it to the Miss Universe semis for almost 20 years now. But then, somehow has to break the drought, right?
