History reveals that among the Scandinavian nations, Denmark is the weakest link. Although Aino Korwa almost won in 1963, Denmark is virtually a clapper at Miss Universe and only a brief 2006-2007 semis finish to break the long lull that another drought ensued. The woes of Denmark may be centered on lack of institutionalized beauty pageant organization that could support candidates like Josefine Hewitt. Josefine is a beautiful model that with proper training and wardrobe could pull an upset in the pageant. We don’t expect that to happen tough. There was poor P.R. for Josefine and even her election was like über-secret to the point that only the Miss Universe website first broke the news. Let’s hope there will be changes in Denmark in the coming years otherwise this Scandinavian nation will continue to languish on the sidelines.
