Singapore is a small island nation with a big fighting spirit. This country always struggle to overcome difficult odds and Singaporean beauty Shenise Wong embodies such qualities as well. For example, Miss Singapore Universe was not aired live this year due to sagging ratings, but Shenise is determined to give her country something to be proud of and hopes to turn things around. Despite her hectic preparations for Vietnam, Missosology.Org was able to catch-up with Shenise for a little chit-chat.

Please tell us about yourself, where you grew up and your hobbies.

I was born and raised in Singapore, a clean and garden city. Playing a game of scrabble, belly dancing and cooking has always been my favorite pastime.

What are your current preparations for Miss Universe 2008?

Maintaining a healthy diet with a strict exercise regime and of course reading up on the host country, Vietnam.

You are one of the most experienced delegates competing for the Miss Universe 2008 crown. Do you think that it will help you somehow?

Contrary to belief, it doesn’t get easier each time round, due to the expectations of past achievements. However, I believe my past pageant experiences will put me in a good state in this year’s Miss Universe pageant as I have become more confident and well prepared to represent my country.

Could you tell us about your experiences during the Miss Singapore contest?

The Miss Singapore contest enables me to gain another new set of friends as well as foster and build rapport with the organizers and sponsors.

Public interest on Miss Singapore Universe is waning. What is your comment on this?

I am still proud to represent Singapore as an Ambassador in this international event. I would like to change the public perception of this pageant and bring back interest in time to come. However, I hope Singaporeans will be more supportive of their own representative for a start.

How would you describe Singapore to your fellow contestants?

Singapore is a cosmopolitan melting pot of the East and West despite being a tiny dot on a world map. She has so much to offer. Good food is available anytime of the day, shops are open till late and the streets are clean and safe. Singapore has all the facilities to ensure your visit is a pleasant and memorable one.

What is the motto that you live by?

“Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win the war." - Donald Trump

Do you think that beauty pageants run in collision course with feminists' views?

I personally believe pageants give young women a platform to voice out their choices and opinions and it makes us stronger and more independent in society today.

What qualities do you think will enable you to shine at Miss Universe 2008?

Just two words, Sincerity and Humility, sincerity because it is the only way to the human heart, humility because it is the key to continual growth.

Lastly, what is your message to the visitors of Missosology.Org?

I would like to wish the site continuous success and to all visitors to keep supporting Missosology.Org as this is the site for up to date pageant news.
