Despite the hectic schedule, we were able to ask Miss Poland Barbara Tatara some questions for Beauty Talks. Some beauty experts say that she is a look alike of Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones. In this interview, one can find her as sweet and witty, avoiding the specifics when we press some issues. Unfortunately, the Miss Universe crown had been very elusive to Poland. Will being sweet and witty allow Barbara to snag that crown?

Please tell us about yourself, where you grew up and your hobbies.

I am 23 years of age. I was born and currently reside in Lodz – Poland’s second largest city. I am a linguistics student at a university specializing in Slavic languages. I enjoy modeling, dancing, shopping and most of all leisure time with friends.

What are your current preparations for Miss Universe 2008?

Preparations have been busy but well organized. I am looking forward to arrive in Vietnam and meet my fellow candidates.

Describe your fashion sense and style.

I am a lover of classic style with emphasis on elegance and femininity.

Could you tell us about your experiences during the Miss Poland contest?

Our national contest is a traditional part of the popular culture of my country since its inception in 1929. As such, it was a joy and privilege to take part in the preliminaries, semifinals and finals.

What do you plan to do in case you will win the Miss Universe 2008 contest?

Taking part in the Miss Universe contest makes me fortunate enough. What ever will happen and even if I will win, I would still enjoy life.

How would you describe Poland to your fellow contestants?

I want any visitor to fall in love with Poland. The key ingredient would be to read up a little of our 1, 100 years of history. For starter’s James Michener’s Poland is a great book.

Poland has a Miss World and three Miss International winners but no Miss Universe titlist yet. What do you think is the reason why it is yet to win the Miss Universe title?

I believe that by participating, it is in itself winning. I think all contestants appreciate that.

Do you think that beauty pageants run in collision course with feminists' views?

I think Miss Universe complements feminism. However feminism and views related to it are subjective and besides there are various beauty pageants with different approach and standards.

What qualities do you think will enable you to shine at Miss Universe 2008?

My inner happiness.

Lastly, what is your message to the visitors of Missosology.Org?

Congratulations on your website. The website’s support to beauty pageants and the fact that that it has an emphasis on the element of “fun” is great. To my fans have fun and keep your finger’s crossed.
