One important aspect that Missosology considers when analyzing whether a pageant falls into the Big4 category is what happens next after the crowning of the winner. Sure, anyone can have a spectacular stage show or have the best contestants but what exactly these contestants are after? Prestige? Glamor? Fame? Anyone can give anybody a crown but what is most important is the prestige and honor that such crown represents.
How prestigious a crown and a title is, is perhaps best measured on what happens beyond the crowning moment. This is the distinction that separates Miss World, Miss International, Miss Earth and Miss Universe from other pageants. The winners in the Big4 Pageants get to meet famous and important people and they are being recognized and they instantly become famous. They travel in many places around the globe and they get to work on their respective causes.

Yu Wnexia with famous anthropologist Jane Goodall
The best example is Miss World 2012 Yu Wenxia. After her crowning she became famous in her native country. She was invited to become a special guest at the 18th Annual Hilton Beijing Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. She was seen together with famous anthropologist Jane Goodall. Not only Wenxia is famous in her home country, she got star treatment in France and in India too! In India, she attended at a film awards night where sat side by side with Bollywood bigwigs. It is also in India where Wenxia showed what Miss World truly is. She visited Muktangan - a non-governmental organization that provides critical educational support for economically deprived children in the community.

Ikumi Yoshimatsu with the Tokyo mayor discussing the city's bid for 2020 Olympics
Miss International 2012 Ikumi Yoshimatsu is also a star in her homeland. After a very warm welcome in her hometown where she was greeted by a huge crowd and a parade was held in her honor, she met with the new mayor of Tokyo where Ikumi became one of the stars supporting the city's bid for the Olympics 2020. This January, she flew to United States in time for the second inauguration of Barack Obama under the invitation of Congress Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. As Miss International, Ikumi's cause is to promote international understanding and what could be more relevant to her work than meeting Senator John Kerry who would soon be the next Secretary of State of the United States. Ikumi also paid homage to one of the greatest statesmen in the world by visiting the Lincoln Memorial.

Tereza Fajksova warmly welcomed by her native town's mayor. Earlier, Tereza was interviewed at the national TV together with the country's Foreign Minister
Meanwhile, Miss Earth 2012 Tereza Fajksova got a warm welcome as well amid the freezing conditions in her native Czech Republic. She was interviewed by a national TV program together with the country's Foreign Minister. When she went home in her native town, she was greeted by no less than the town mayor with the national press in attendance. Tereza was also invited to be a special guest at the ACT Now conference in Finland where environmental issues particularly water conservation will be tackled.

Olivia Culpo at the relaunch of HSN
For Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo, well, it just more than a month since she was crowned but she is pretty busy. She was invited at the relaunch of HSN, gave numerous interviews and no doubt she is famous in her home country and even around the world. Olivia will definitely have a year full of charity activities, red carpet welcomes, and doing tête-à-tête with famous people. She is now in Indonesia where she is given a star treatment and will soon be a special guest at the finals night this February.

So, if anyone out there asks why Missosology is not putting pageants like Miss Supranational and Miss Tourism Queen International in our Big4 List, the counter-question is quite simple. Are the winners of Miss Supranational 2012 and Miss Tourism Queen International 2012 (was there a 2012 winner?) are given the same star treatment and have the same valuable duties? Do they meet famous people in the same way that the winners of Big4 Pageants did? This article clearly sums up one of the numerous reasons why Big4 Pageants will, as of the moment, remain four.
