Who says Latinas are ignored?
1.) Miss World are for European beauties and usually ignores Latinas. This is a common concept among beauty watchers where years of observation led them to conclude that the pageant is Euro-centric. And there is a good reason for that conclusion. Since the year 2000, Europeans won 6 times. In contrast, Latinas won only twice! But this is a myth. Proof to this is that the reigning Miss World is well, Latina.

You can be 5'1", er 5'11" i mean, and still win Miss World
2.) You can be 5'1" and still be Miss World. This is quite misleading quote by no less than the owner of the pageant Julia Morley. It is true historically as some Miss World winners in the early days of the pageant barely hit the 5 feet 5 inches height but recent trend suggest this is already a myth in a modern perspective. Since 2000, no Miss World winner stands 5'1". Miss World 2008 Ksenia Sukhinova of Russia for example is 5'11" tall!

Looks like a case of the-girl-at-the-back-is-better, isn't it?
3.) The winner is always the best. This is a highly debatable concept especially when the memories of Miss World 2009 comes into the minds of beauty watchers. Can one honestly say that the Miss Gibraltar Kaiane Aldorino is way far more superior than Miss Mexico Perla Beltran?

Beautiful but aloof
4.) Being Miss World means you are accessible and communicates well. This is by far a myth especially since Miss World winners always appear aloof. It could be sweetness and refinement but consider how Alexandria Mills conducts herself under the glare of limelight. Miss World is far more image savvy on stills. When the film is rolling, it disconnects from the public.

Made in China, crowned in China
5.) Miss World is apolitical. The accusation that Miss Universe is highly politicized while Miss World is apolitical is very much a myth. China, a nation that hosted the pageant gadzillion times, exercised its political muscle by preventing countries hostile to its agenda from winning the crown. The only East Asian to win the title was from China and was crowned in China. Norway tasted China's vengeance in 2010, could be Philippines' turn this year.
