Peru had just crowned its 2013 queens but the country is already awash with controversies. Miss World Peru 2013 Melissa Paredes (photo above during the crowning night) was in hot water after photos of her in "extra" skimpy bunny costume was circulated in the internet. Melissa defended herself by claiming that such photos were for private use of her friend who happens to be in the lingerie business where Melissa signed up to model her friend's products. But in another apparent sign that there is really a crackdown at Miss World pageant against girls who posed in revealing ways, it was reported by the Peruvian press that Julia Morley herself asked Melissa to step down. As such, Melissa Paredes gave up her title to the first runner-up Elba Fahsbender.
Earlier, allegations that Miss World USA and Miss World South Africa will no longer compete at Miss World due to their racy photos, also surfaced. Neither the Miss World or local pageants however confirmed the allegations.
