Isabella Ayuk
MBGN (Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria) was recently rocked by a scandal on the allegation that the winner Isabella Ayuk falsified her age. The Africa's longest running national beauty pageant was grappling on how to handle the scandal and many observers expected that Isabella will be dethroned.
Isabella is supposed to compete at Miss World 2012 which is to be held in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China. Miss World's age requirement is 17-24 years old and Isabella is 25. She will now be replaced by the first runner-up Damiete Charles-Granville who is 18 years old.
"The management of Silverbird, organisers of the annual Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria and Africa’s longest running beauty pageant will be sending MBGN First Runner up, Miss Damiette Charles Granville, to represent the country at the Miss World pageant holding in Mongolia, China in August. MBGN winner, Miss Isabella Agbo Ayuk will represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe", Guy Murray Bruce, the pageant's chairman announced.
Isabella is very much qualified at Miss Universe. The pageant's age requirement is 18-27 years old by February 1st on the year that the contestant is supposed to compete at Miss Universe.
MBGN had produced one Miss World in the name of Agbani Darego and is yet to produce a Miss Universe.
