Well, you have to choose on the list of great cities below. Miss Universe Organization is yet to announce the venue of the Miss Universe 2012, yet pundits and missosologists are salivating at the prospect of having it held in a particular city. A few weeks back, we've seen red faces all over the place as websites that claim to be credible and with supposed insiders erroneously reported that Bahamas will once again host the pageant. Just recently, people were led to believe that Jakarta will be the host.
Nobody should hold their breath waiting for the official announcements. It is most likely be announced a little bit later but who couldn't forget when the official twitter account of Ximena Navarette announced all of the sudden that Sao Paulo will host the 2011 Miss Universe?

But why would the venue matter? First and foremost, the venue could set the tone and mode as to what would be the beauty preference especially that of preliminary judges, majority of which are either locals or could be swung by the local mood. Perhaps it is ofe no coincidence that 4 out 5 finalists are East Asians when the Miss Universe was held in Taipei in 1988. Or perhaps it is more than just a coincidence that all Portuguese speaking contestants made it to Top 10 last year.
Anyway, suppose you have the power to choose what city will host the pageant. Which one will you pick and why?
1.) Rustenburg, South Africa - one the Soccer World Cup 2010 cities. Facilities used during Soccer World Cup is a plus. The crime rate all over South Africa is a minus. Expect African beauties to get noticed.

2.) Guadalajara, Mexico - This is a vibrant city with lots of cultural things - and business potentials - to feast on. That's the plus. Booing the Miss USA is a given minus. Mexico has hosted the pageant twice and in both instances the Miss USA was, well, booed. Latinas will fare well in this city.

3.) Seoul, South Korea - The Soul of Asia, as it is marketed by its Tourism Board, Seoul is a cosmopolitan city capable to hosting the Miss Universe 2012 contest. It's fast paced economy means its has money and means to do so and it is the plus. The lunatic North which is just a few miles away is the minus.

4.) Punta Caña, Dominican Republic - This is a great tourist destination. The plus is, wearing the swimsuit at the pageant will no longer be "inappropriate" for the feminists. After all, the beach is just nearby. Big minus for pale skinned delegates who will melt under the sun. Latinas will enjoy all the attention.

5.) Jakarta, Indonesia - a modern and cosmopolitan city. Moslem by majority but largely tolerant and there is a sizable pageant fanatics in Indonesia. Big plus is the city's culture and infrastructure. Can house thousands of fans who will come in droves. Big minus are those fringe Muslim extremists who will be riled up. Asians can expect a good showing.
