Unfortunately, when it comes to gown designs, tastes do vary. It is unfortunate because putting up a panel to decide the Top 15 best gowns at Miss Universe official gown portraits would be an insurmountable task. It is even questionable whether the panel could come up with an harmonious decision. But, what it seems to be an impossibility, Missosology.Org through a panel of beauty experts and beauty watchers came up with the Top 15 Best in Gown.

Of course Missosology.Org is fully aware that some of these gowns will never be utilized in the preliminaries or on the finals night. Also, the panel judged based on the design of the gown whereas at Miss Universe it is more on how the girl looks in the gown. It's all about the lady, they say. Anyway, here's the Top 15!

Top 15 - Miss Paraguay Egni Eckert

This figure hugging lacy white gown gives a soft effect. The beauty is in the details and the way the train flows is just adorable.

Top 14 - Miss France Marie Payet

France is embracing symmetrical patterns in their gowns lately and Marie is not spared. This gown is something that you either hate or love. What makes it stand out though is the meticulous beading and the eye-dazzling and shimmering patterns.

Top 13 - Miss Brazil Gabriela Markus

This is a gown that is risqué but it is indeed sexy without being brazen. The radial patterns emanating from her left hip is so top notch and a huge compliment to the designer for that classy overlay that sparingly veils Gabriela's right arm.

Top 12 - Miss Netherlands Nathalie den Dekker

An excellent design that highlights the contrasts between the girl and the dress. The gown is heavy and metallic makes the soft features of Nathalie stand-out. Absolutely brilliant!

Top 11 - Miss India Shilpa Singh

This gown is actually criticized rather heavily and in many cases in a negative way! Most in the panel however love the color and the design. It would have been a tacky design if not for the huge slit on the left of Shilpa. Also, the bodice allowed a few portions of Shilpa to show off. The flowers on the lower part and the patterns on the bodice splits opinions. The consensus though is that this is a case of tackiness that was brilliantly saved by heavy dose of sexiness.

Top 10 - Miss China Diana Xu

At one time aubergine was the color of the year and Diana looks lovely in a dress with this color. The smoothness of the fabric is very calming in the eyes and gives the all important elegant vibe. Strapless and lovely patterns on the bodice makes this gown fit for the red carpet.

Top 9 - Miss Italy Grazia Pinto

This reminds us all of what Jennifer Hawkins wore when she was crowned at least on the bodice. Sans the slit and of a different color, Grazia looks stunning in this light blue gown. Absolutely sexy and very much apropos for evening wear.

Top 8 - Miss Georgia Tamar Shedania

More like Dayana Mendoza's gown in red with patterns on the bodice extended by hanging threads. The lower portion is spared giving it a clean, classy look. What is great about this gown is how it makes Tamar look elegant and the huge slit which give it a sexy twist.

Top 7 - Miss Croatia Elizabeta Burg

This is a haute couture at its best. Its elegant, very creative, sexy (thanks to the opening at the back), fit for red carpets and evening wear. How it hugs Elizabeta's body is perfect and the nude canvass smathered with green vine-like appliqué shows off the genius of the design.

Top 6 - Miss South Africa Melinda Bam

The elegance of shimmering lime green comes alive in the evening gown of Melinda. This is a heavy piece thanks to the rather enormous train but dampened by v-cut at the back that shows a whole lot of skin. The mermaid cut definitely gives more definition to the body of Melinda. This is perfect for her and the color matches well with her skin tone and hair.

Top 5 - Miss Kosovo Diana Avdiu

When one ponders about this dress, this is basically at it simplest. What makes it red hot is the generous v-cut opening at the bodice that reveals much without being all too scandalous. The cloth extension at the back add the much needed elegant touch. Above all else though, there is no denying of the fact that Diana carried this gown so well.

Top 4 - Miss Malaysia Kimberly Leggett

Kimberley Leggett has been shining ever since she arrived in Las Vegas. Her gown showed how Malaysia is set to avenge the exclusion of Debora Henry last year. It is a beautifully feathered dress with intricate design, a generous slit to show off the left leg and a figure hugging cut that spells out the sexiness that is Kimberly.

Top 3 - Miss Mexico Karina Gonzalez

The simplicity of the design sprinkled with neat beading makes the blue gown of Karina a joy to look at. Clean, subtle yet elegant with nice finesse makes this an ultimate evening dress.

Top 2 - Miss Venezuela Irene Esser

Irene Esser's gown, simply put, is divine. It is like looking at the dark sky gently etched by a burst of silvery stellar activity. The metallic silver on the waist contrasts neatly to the dark blue color. And the gown being strapless add both elegance and sexiness to the whole creation.

Top 1 - Miss Puerto Rico Bodine Koehler

This white piece tops the list because it is creative and at the same time it is just sexy to look at thanks largely to the body form of Bodine. The design could risk ending up being busy or glaring to the eye but the geometrical patterns is very symmetrical. The see through portions and the fact that this is strapless makes it so sexy. This is a top quality design that only a creative mind can truly produce.
