Is the Reign of Leila Lopes Really Boring?

There is no denying that many Miss Universe fans are complaining that the reign of Leila seems to be the most boring one in recent memory. How come they felt this way? Above all else, are these complaints with basis or it is merely a form of sourgraping? Here we analyze each reason supporting that the notion that Leila's reign is indeed a boring one (yawn).

1.) No drama, non fama. Dramatics especially theatrical ones drive news for celebrities. To cite a few, Dayana's Guantanamo Bay comment, Zuleyka's candid shots, Ximena's India escapade, Stefania's rigged victory. These what makes a celebrity to be in the spotlight and Leila is bereft of any controversies that enables people to talk about her. Not even her alleged fake nationality or wardrobe malfunction or her "warmongering" photos in Germany raised two eyebrows.

2.) A big shoe to fill in. Leila's predecessor, Ximena Navarrete left an impression of a bon vivant, exciting, globe trotting beauty queen. Ximena was in Thailand to crown the new Miss Thailand Universe, in Puteri Indonesia and in Miss Russia. With Leila, yes she was in Indonesia but was not even invited in Miss Russia pageant. Instead Miss Russia opted for Miss World Ivian Sarcos.

3.) The looooong wait. What makes Leila's reign even more boring is that she will be the pageant's longest reigning beauty queen. She was crowned in September 12, 2011 and she will be giving up her crown in December, 2012. The wide gap could not sustain the enthusiasm of the pageant fanatics whose instincts are to anticipate a new winner with a maximum wait of 365 days.

4.) That boring personality. Yes, what Miss France Laury Thilleman said is true. Just watch the videos of Leila and you will see how boring her personality is. She has a monotonous voice that lacks the sing-songy accent that one might expect from a Portuguese speaker. She's regal, gorgeous and very royal but she is unable to connect and lacks charisma and rapport. Judge for yourself on the video below.
