Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Miss World America 2020 held an all-virtual finals on October 16 with New York’s Alissa Anderegg winning the top plum.
The Alzheimer’s activist and social media manager bested 29 other candidates for the title and the right to represent the USA in the next edition of the Miss World finals.
“Oh my goodness. I am so honored to be your new Miss World America 2020! Long post coming soon, but thank you all for your unconditional support throughout the Miss World America process,” Anderegg posted on Instagram.
Anderegg secured a spot in the Top 15 after she was named Miss World chairman Julia Morley’s pick for the winner of the Miss World America Beauty with a Purpose competition.
Returining candidate Megan Gordon of South Carolina finished first runner-up for the second straight year. The rest of the Top 5 were Manya Saaraswat (Pennsylvania), Molly May (Mississippi), and Alissa Musto (Massachusetts).
USA last won the Miss World crown in 2010. It currently ranks 1st in Missosology Big5 Ranking. Missosology.Org; Photos from Alissa Anderegg website
