Kristhielee Caride, the representative of Isabela, was crowned Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2016 during the finals held November 12.
The 24-year-old beauty, who finished a degree in Drama at the Universidad de Puerto Rico, will represent the Caribbean island in next year’s Miss Universe pagant.
In an interview with WAPA TV after the pageant, Caride said: “I always saw other girls who are much more prepared than me, with more potential. But my friends always motivated me.”
Brenda Jiménez (Aguadilla) finished first runner-up, while Heilymar Rosario (San Juan) was second runner-up. Laihany Pontón (Bayamón), Yamillette Rivera (Guayama) and Stephanie Román (Dorado) completed the Top 6.
Miss San Juan was awarded Best in National Costume and Estilo Sears, Miss Aibonito was voted Miss Friendship while Miss Bayamón won Miss Photogenic.
Completing the Top 12 were Mayaguez, Cayey, Aibonito, Ponce and Toa Baja.
The rest of the Top 20 semifinalists were: Cabo Rojo, Caguas, Cidra, Corozal, Orocovis, Yauco, Río Grande and Jayuya.
