Panama to boycott Miss Universe

Justine Pasek is Panama’s pride for being its sole Miss Universe winner

Joining the other Latin American countries which have decided not to send representative to the Miss Universe contest, Panama decided not to participate in the next edition of the pageant. This is in solidarity with Mexico after the Miss Universe co-owner Donald Trump issued some comments that disparaged the Mexican and Latino American immigrants.

The TV channel Telemetro will also not transmit this year’s contest. This was confirmed after the meeting of the TV channel’s officials with Marisela Moreno, the president of Miss Panama contest.

Panama has one Miss Universe titleholder – Justine Pasek – who took over after the original winner from Russia, Oxana Federova, was dethroned.
