The snafu that happened at the conclusion of Miss Universe 2015 created a schism that pitted one bloc of Miss Universe fans and contestants against another bloc. Most from the group that supported Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach insisted that the first runner-up Ariadna Gutiérrez should have played it cool and that in the spirit of sportsmanship, should have relinquished something that was not hers in the first place and move on.

Easy right? But try putting yourself in the shoes of Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez. She basically competed in a contest that a few months ago, the earlier owner called her race as rapists and drug couriers. She was also competing against huge odds as the current winner is from her country and in a contest like Miss Universe, a back-to-back win is pretty rare. In fact it happened only once and it took the superpower nation of Venezuela a lot of effort to make it possible. On top of all these, Ariadna’s country was in a state of mourning as their beloved first ever Miss Universe, Luz Marina Zuluaga, died recently.

Host Steve Harvey said he made a mistake when reading the card and and Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach is the actual winner.

All of these circumstances created a highly emotional situation for Ariadna and for all Colombians in general. So, when Ariadna was called as Miss Universe 2015, it was as if all the adversities that they experienced were all relieved with this one big victory – an impossible victory well in fact. That two-minute moment where Ariadna was wearing the DIC blue crown while waving the Colombian flag was supposed to be the moment of all moments after all the sorrows and humiliations that they have experienced in the past few months.

Except, it was another form of humiliation. Granted that it was an error and that the crown wasn’t hers, it was a cruel joke to tell a beautiful beauty queen and her expectant nation a flat out lie. Basically they were given false hope and they were absolutely humiliated before the eyes of billions of people. So, can we really expect them to play sports and just move on in a snap? And here’s an even more beautiful question: What if Pia was crowned as Miss Universe for just two minutes and then the crown was taken away from her and given to Ariadna? How would the Philippines react? I leave that question for all of you to answer.

  1. Missosology picked another contestant to be MU 2015. Why are you now sensationalizing this issue about the crown switch? Can’t you accept Pia is the ultimate winner? Sash Factor once again picked the right winner FYI.

  2. Fact “The Result Card says Philippines is the Miss Universe Winner”
Not enough to accept the true winner if it was clearly justified on the result card?
Miss Australia made a statement that even the candidates knew there was something wrong because the Teleprompter says that the Miss Philippines won the pageant so it means that even Miss Columbia knew that! is that hard to accept the fact that it was an honest mistake?

  3. A mature person can turn a humiliation into something positive. Ariadna is 21 years old and understandably she is IMMATURE the way she acted onstage. I’ve been saying this over and over in other posts. Any girl of her age would probably act the same way. However she is NOT ALONE in this journey. There is a Miss Colombia Universe organization behind her who still hasn’t realize that their press release did not STOP the netizens from bickering at each other. The ONLY way to shut up her fans is TO APPEAR ON TV AND GRACIOUSLY CONCEDE AND STATE HER FULL SUPPORT TO PIA. We all know how her shoes would feel. Unfortunately, Ariadna’s is NOT letting us try it.

    • Lara let it go. You guys won and everyone has moved on except you. Instead of waiting for someone to do it your way. Consider spending your time celebrating Pia’s achievement which was a great triumph. Miss Colombia has said on social media she will always be “your miss universe forever” to her fans, Colombians and people who supported her and that’s what counts. She never said she is THE miss universe and that she is the true winner. This is the truth. I do not think they will crown two winners this year so Pia’s crown is not threatened. There is nothing anyone can do to change peoples opinions and to some people Colombia will always be their favorite. Its nothing personal against Filipinos or Pia or you. Be safe

      • There’s a headline news on CNN today 1/1/2016 on Miss Colombia’s latest interview. Here’s part of the news article:

……………..But now, Gutierrez is speaking for the first time about what she calls a “great injustice.”

“It has been very hard for me, truly, it has been a great shock,” Gutierrez said. “Because it is a dream I fought for. … I have always dreamed of this, of being Miss Universe. … It was very humiliating for me.”

Having to stand before the cameras while the hard-fought crown was removed wasn’t fair, she said.

“There are a thousand ways to do things,” she said. “They could have done it, I don’t know, the next day in a press conference or a press release. … They did not do things the right way.” …………….

Boy, Ariadna is STILL DELUSIONAL up to now. She wanted Steve Harvey to correct the mistake the following day. Really? That just shows how GREEDY AND UGLY her personality is. She is a very DISHONEST person. Anything to make herself look good in front of billions even if it was a LIE. Wow. I thought I changed my mind on her and forgave her for her CRYING SIDE SHOW but boy, this is ONE UGLY woman IN and OUT.

  4. Yes, let’s put it in other way around… If Ms. Colombia would be the real winner I think only FEW will bash the real winner unlike to Miss Universe 2015 – Ms. Philippines who is the real winner, they blame and fabricate stories for the mix-up… What an ironic world…. If Miss Philippines would be 1st Runner only, she would be humble to transfer the crown to the real winner because that is her attitude. Miss Philippines would not like be a crying baby on the side of the stage…

    • Exactly. We’ll she is 26 years old and underwent many hardships in life that she even said she was already happy even if she placed only 2nd 3rd or 4th.

    • You don’t know what PIA would have done on any stage? Stop pretending Miss colombia was not giving the crown back. No one should have to give anything back until the miss universe org reps come out and tell her personally. Steve Harvey is a comedian and miss colombia has stated she thought he was doing a joke like he always does and also during rehearsals. She wasn’t getting off stage until she was certain her crown was not hers. SMH. So many people agree except filipinos. What a surprise! At least miss Colombia will be remembered while others ask pia who? Myabe you are angry because Ariadna is the real winner than. Its not who won but who is a legend.

      • Well Miss Colombia should take the offer of $1 million by Vivid Productions to star in their porn movies. That will make her very famous for sure and a LEGEND like Linda Lovelace.

        • and yet she is already a legend my dear bitter filipina…she doesnt need it after all….guess i was right….and this is all you could say……lets make love dear shall we….muahz xoxo kisses

          • I am NOT a Filipina so there is your dumb assumption that everyone who defends the Miss Philippines is a Filipina.

I am not BITTER even if my country did not win. But I know their is one country whose candidate is still BITTER up to this day- Colombia. Hugs hon but don’t get used to it coz I’m a great catch.

          • lol….colombians moved on,……its 2016 while so many people (asians mostly) are making negative comments towards Colombia because she has overshadowed Pia. I think the consensus is that because the winner is not being talked about except by a few fans. The more they or you bash Colombia and demonize her the more fame Pia will get. Of course the reality is something else. Its not about the winner…its about whose name is remembered. Still good luck to Pia even if she almost slipped in her evening gown portion. Its actually sad that Colombia was flawless in body and beauty and even responded well in the first round. Pia responded well but lacked in evening gown and swimsuit but somehow the judges voted for her. It is what it is though. She won but her fans keep bitching. Such a strange win.

          • Believe me, if Steve Harvey DID NOT MAKE a mistake, nobody will be talking about your Ariadna so she should thank Steve Harvey for her sudden NOTORIETY. Nobody would be talking about the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant either. Period. AND THOSE COLOMBIANS won’t be harping on their loss because it was OBVIOUS Ariadna’s answers were lame. You think COLOMBIANS will be whining if Steve Harvey did not make a mistake? Of course no. But THEIR EGOS are so hurt with the humiliation that they have to keep yapping.

          • She is famous in Colombia. But after Miss U, she is NOTORIOUS around the world for being a bitch who insisted the crown was hers and telling the world that “it was a great injustice”.

          • I have an insider info FROM MUO that if FOR ANY REASON Miss Philippines won’t be able to fulfill her duties, they will not give the crown to the 1st runner up Miss Colombia. Miss Universe is not happy with her post Miss Universe interviews and press releases.

  5. “What if Pia was crowned as Miss Universe for just two minutes and then
the crown was taken away from her and given to Ariadna? How would the
    Philippines react?”

You already knew the answer when Janine Tugonon lost to Olivia Culpo in 2012! How they bashed Olivia after won the crown.

    • Thats not the answer because janine tugonon was not called as miss universe and then removed. Is not the same thing. We accept that ariadna was not the winner what we dont accept is to try in addittion to say that she must smile and give the crown like nothing happened… She was felling really bad and blocked….

  6. Filipinos will respect the result if the game was done fair and square. Absolutely during janine togonon time she was the clear winner but trump wanted a different one. Did everyone bash olivia? Yes but not that long. We never put any images having of janine declared as miss u. Filipinos accepted that olivia was the winner. Did colombianas accept their defeat? In the first place it was miss colombia that robbed Pia’s moment of walk. Miss colombia stayed in the stage and did not allow pia to wall properly because she blocked the way. And the latinas birches. Wtf!

  7. Be safe

  8. The Filipinos are hypocrites … they ask everyone to move on, but if it was Pia who had been humiliated, then they would come to burn the world for months as they usually do on all networks.

  9. WHY do so many filipinos still talk about this. Is it because miss colommbia is still getting more press and not many are speaking about Miss Phillipines? Get over it. The only ones hurting now are the ones that should be celebrating because they won. She is not attacking your country she is stating her opinion. People what one woman says has nothing to do with the Phillipines or any of you personally. LMFAO. And talking about miss Colombia only upsets you not Ariadna who in her own words has said “ive moved on so should the world”. Also you all should seriously hear what SHE says not what poor english translations state in print. Its 2016 MOVING ON!!!

    • She is getting more press coz she is a SORE LOSER. Her DRAMA continues. So the press wants to take advantage of her NOTORIETY which will help their RATINGS if they kept talking about it. TV today is full of GARBAGE like reality TV shows. Most people in the US don’t even watch Miss Universe let alone feed on the news about a woman who cried foul after the crown was removed from her head and even after a HUGE apology by the host and Miss Universe organization. Miss Colombia OBVIOUSLY has not moved on. She is a LIAR and DELUSIONAL as proven on her interviews.

      • Nope….she is right. To all colombians and some fans she will always be their winner. This is all she said. Everything else is exaggered by Pia’ fans or newpapers. It is sad when people hear what they want to hear and not what was really said. I speak spanish so heard the interview did you?

        • Let’s set the record straight. Granted that her Instagram post was meant for her fellow Colombians just to give her the benefit of doubt, her new interview with CNN sealed that this woman is VAIN, DELUSIONAL AND A LIAR. She wanted the MUO and Steve Harvey to correct their mistake in a press conference the next day just to avoid that public humiliation. Why can’t she be the bigger person and accept the mistake? Seriously, I would have been head over heels if that’s what she did. I would have said, boy, that woman was so gracious… she is my Miss Universe as well!

          • Now your talking. All jokes and attitude aside. My issue really is more with the way they have interpreted her comments like I listened to her Colombian interview and she was pretty clear she moved on and she was joking about some things but never said she was the real winner. . I honestly
Wonder if the media translates her words into English and twists them to make her the bad guy. Because you know all stories have a bad guy. I agree both these girls suffered and Pia was the winner . I just feel sensitive when I hear about and than listen to Ariadna”s interview and I’m like. She is not saying all the things social media is saying she is. Either way I hope
Janicel lubina wins miss phillipines next year. That girl could win a back to back. Than again next year Colombia is gonna come back hard. Be safe. Hope no harmed was done with my comments.

          • This is WHY I KEPT POSTING HERE THAT ARIADNA SHOULD HAVE A TV INTERVIEW TO VOICE HER TRUE OPINIONS regarding the SNAFU. It is better to hear the words directly from her and NOT translated by press and posted online. The longer she waits to do this, the MORE CREDIBLE the BAD PRESS that she is getting now.

  10. Solo quiero agregar algunas cosas:

    • Ariadna had a good grasp and verbal skills of English but she chose to use a translator. By your reasoning, using a translator from Latin America will still not solve the issue of most accurate translation unless the translator is from Colombia itself. Using a translator from say Mexico or Puerto Rico or Spain will NOT capture the nuances, figures of speech and expressions that are typical of a region regardless if he or she speaks the same language UNLESS he/she comes from the SAME EXACT region of the person he/she is translating for.

Let’s not make this a language issue simply because Miss Colombia lost. Latinas as a whole have won more Miss Universe crowns than any region in the world despite their less proficient English. So please don’t cry wolf. Miss Colombia’s answer to the final question was VERY LAME. It was self serving and patronizing. Believe me, I understood her Spanish without needing a translator. As confident as she was, Ariadna’s words were cannons that unfortunately fired blank shells.

      • Eres el ejemplo claro de los que dicen entender español y no lo entienden, de verdad no lo entienden, igual para mi ya esta, el resultado no lo cambia nadie y la sombra del miss universo 2015 será este escándalo

  11. To my fellow Filipinos, please, stop bashing Ariadna. She never said that she’s the real winner. She has experienced an unimaginable humiliation and it wouldn’t be easy for anyone to just let it be and move on. It is not her fault if she felt really bad about it. She is a victim of a hellish circumstance. Pia may not have her crowning moment but so what? She’s still the winner and everything will be in her favor: title, prizes, prestige, etc. Be compassionate with Ariadna. She’s a beautiful, elegant and lovable lady. We should all wish her well. As she said, everything happens for a reason. Let the world show her that something amazing is in-store for her. Let us not destruct her even more. PLEASE!

  12. I implore all fellow Filipinos to empathize with Miss Colombia and the Colombian people with the horrific mistake that has humiliated their representative. We must show that we have a heart, like our beloved Pia.

  13. While the poverty rate in Colombia is 28.5% of the population below the poverty
line and in the Philippines it is (25.8%) of the population everyone is here talking about why Miss Colombia is wrong over and over and over again or why Miss Philippines deserved to win or should not have won. All this energy right here could resolve so many of the worlds problems. It begins with you!!!! But instead people are going in circles and accomplishing “what” trying to prove their point and that others are wrong.
