Yvonne Yang, Miss Macau International
She's tall. She's sexy. She's beautiful. She's Miss Macau. The truth is, we never knew she will ever participate. That's okay, says her National Director, she's kinda late anyway. Yvonne Yang is the last minute choice to represent the former Portuguese enclave. The truth is, Yvonne did not place in any of the major titles during the Miss Macau pageant and sad to say that it is just in a pool of ten delegates! On the sidelines, it is interesting to note that the Miss Macau pageant saw its first Caucasian delegate in the person of Sarah Leyshan. Anyway, Yvonne had been blessed for being the tallest in the group yet her height advantage did not materialize into something tangible.
But what makes Yvonne standout is not necessarily her height (5 feet 10 and a half inches). It is her elegance. Her elegance had been very evident in her poses and in her Miss Macau official profile she chose to wear a black gown. Elegance+black gown=more elegance. It is on this aspect that she will be noticed at Miss International. Yvonne's face is also distinctly Chinese with oblong shape that she can pull her hair back and wear an easy smile. Such shape allows her to complement her elegance.
Having such height, elegance and harmonious face shape makes Yvonne a perfect poster girl. But that's being static. What about when things get dynamic? That is where Yvonne gets into a problem. Having watched the episodes of Miss Macau pageant, it is easy to spot that Yvonne lacks the pizazz to project her height and give her figure a good boost. She looks like her body frame slightly sags during the catwalk segment. She also needs to stop restricting her movements especially since during the dance competition she looks as if she's reserved. Too reserved. She just need to let go or perhaps she just need to spice things up.
Overall Physical Impression: 8.9 Let's be realistic. Being Miss Macau would not illicit a second look for most of the pageant observers. Call it sash factor but Yvonne should deal with it. The point to be learned from her is that she needs to truly shine to capture anyone's imagination. She is already geographically advantaged since she is in China and Macau is technically a part of China. Missosology.Org recommends that Yvonne should stick where she excels. Many of her foibles needs years to develop and she needs to get out of her comfort zone to be a perfect candidate for Miss International crown.
Yvonne needs to enhance her elegance by choosing the correct wardrobes that highlights her height. She also need to stick with the black color although having it all the time is not an option. Black gown suits her best and she needs to pull her hair up and not let it down. Her catwalk needs fine tuning but for last minute improvements, all she need is confidence deep within. She should stop thinking that she a last minute replacement and instead focus in projecting her assets to everyone. She also needs to show off her Chinese skills linking the fact that she is also technically a host delegate. Having the nod of the audience and the general public could sway the judges' opinion as well. These could be enough to boost her performance on the ramp.
