If Only She Was There....

Contrary to some reports, Miss Philippines Jhezarie Javier was actually a standout in the Miss International 2003 pageant, given that her loveliness, stature and poise are already sound for a semifinal finish. She's startlingly one of the tallest delegates. Most of the beauty-watchers, journalists, and critics remark the Filipina candidate as a "beauty who never fails to smile." Jhezarie acts upon the advice given to her by former Miss International titleholder Melanie Marquez, "constant smiling is very important in order to win the hearts of the Japanese people." jhezarie

Our beauty connoisseur Steve Diaz who flew in Tokyo to cover the pageant didn't consider Miss Philippines a Miss International or even a semifinal material, eventually the Filipina contender failed to make it as one of the 12 semifinalists, thus, giving her country another term of loosing streak. Our eligible critic puts great stress on the grounds of measures in the Japanese judging for Miss International.

What is Jhezarie Javier's major drawback? First is her hair. He says it's too obvious that he doesn't need to explain why. While the other candidates boast their beautiful hair, Miss Philippines desperately needs hot oil. After reviewing his digital photos and video shots, he believed that her chances are in jeopardy if there will be no developments with her hair. Second are her projections. According to him, Jhezarie seemed to be so rehearsed and that she needs to loosen up and enjoy. He gave credit to Miss Vietnam who’s so cool. The Vietnamese was only wearing a pair of sneakers during the fund raising campaign in Odaiba. Third is her choice of clothes. "They are so tacky!" he exclaims. He claims that the Japanese dislike the outfits that she's wearing. Fourth is her speech. He feels weary that someone who didn't know the Japanese mind prepared her speech. Fifth, there are so many candidates who can outshine her. Based on his point of reference, the game in Miss International is to be "unique." If you're an Asian, you have to be unique. You have to create an impact. He also exclaims that there are many hostesses in Roponggi that are more beautiful than Jhezarie!

Steve reviewed all the pictures and videos he took, and tried to convince himself that Jhezarie is deserving to place among the Top 12, but she just didn't fit it, given the odds and circumstances. Being so vocal about her truest downfall which is her hair, he thought that Jherry's fondness of using spray net didn't make her look any attractive. It only made her look inferior to the other girls who had natural, free-flowing hair. But if it was based on his will and statement, he wished to see the pretty and sweet Philippine candidate among the semifinalists.
